In the past few years, Pearl Aesthetic Medicine (the name comes from the name “Megan,” which means “a Pearl”) has grown into a well recognized and respected name with a strong local clientele, as well as visiting clients from near and far.

Is a Board-Certified in Family Medicine and holds multiple certifications in Aesthetic Medicine.
Is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, and the International Academy of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.
Was a former full-time faculty member at both the University of Iowa and University of Minnesota Schools of Medicine. While holding these positions, she trained resident physicians in rural family medicine, women’s health, high-risk obstetrics, and surgical procedures.
Worked as a hospitalist physician, frontier medicine physician, urgent care physician, hospice physician, and emergency department physician.
Held elected and appointed positions in university, Federal, community, and large private health systems as Medical Director, Assistant and Associate Resident Program Director, Curriculum Director, Chief Medical Officer, and Department Chair.
Dr. Megan firmly believes cosmetic and surgical therapies improve psychosocial health in her patients and reduce, even eliminate appearance-related distress.
Megan Mahoney grew up in rural northern Minnesota. She attended college at the
University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, and graduated from the University of
Minnesota Medical School.
Her residency training was in Family Medicine and Community Health through the
University of Minnesota, with an emphasis on rural medicine and obstetrics. She also
earned a Master’s Degree in Medical Education at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Megan moved from Minnesota to Telluride in 2012. She now lives in town with her
wife, Nancy, and their dogs, Wally and Izzy.
Dr. Megan is a long-time member of the Telluride Choral Society, plays the
upright string bass and piano; and is a competitive crossword puzzler who never misses the New York Times annual tournament. She loves dogs, Cornerhouse trivia, politics, and “The Golden Girls.”

Janette Gianatti, Licensed Esthetician, LMT, CEC joined forces with Dr. Megan Mahoney at Pearl Aesthetic Medicine in 2023 as a “strictly clinical” therapist offering professional skin and body care. Janette draws on her extensive background in health and wellness and all things pertaining to facial therapies and cosmetic waxing services to provide professional, top-quality care. Her expertise in the science of professional skin care perfectly compliments and builds upon Dr. Megan’s medical aesthetic procedures and treatments. Together, they are able to combine medical and esthetician services, such as microneedling with platelet-rich plasma, in order to offer clients more effective, scientifically researched and proven, and personalized treatments and therapies. Janette grew up in Spokane, Washington. She moved to Telluride in 2000 and lives here with her husband and her favorite hiking buddy – Dusty Jane – a rescue pit bull and red heeler.
